So end of week one, and what have I learned? Well quite a lot actually.

1. The flank company took me upwards of 10 hours to make! This was not helped at all by my really poor clippers. So lesson one, go and buy some new clippers.

2. The convention we are using is 1 model to represent 20 men on the battlefield. So each brigade will be represented by approximately 40 models. The downside to this convention is that of the 60 flank company that are now fully assembled only 8 are going to be useable in the brigade.  The flank companies only made up around 20% of the brigade.  Lesson two, plan ahead!

3. I have painted one model as a test piece, it took me about an hour and I am quite pleased. One of my mates at the club recommended this website for painting tartan.

http://www.angelfire.com/tx/ToySoldier/tartan.htm  he also found this website http://www.mont-saint-jean.com/cent_jou ... U&unite=72. Lesson three, ask your mates they may have some insight or access to stuff that you don’t know.

What have I achieved?

1. 60 assembled and undercoated models.

2. One painted Gordon Highlander to a reasonable standard

3. Started the assembly of a second brigade, these are Perry Miniatures. So far I have done about 22. The new clippers are making the job some much easier! These are going to represent either the 50th foot or the 71st foot Regiments.  Although the 71st foot are called the Highland light infantry they did not wear the Kilt.

4. In the Perry box set there are also 4 models to represent a rifle company. My chosen division has either the 60th or the 95th rifles as a company attachment, depending on your source. These will be perfect for representing either of these.

What I want to achieve Next Week

1. Complete the assembly of the second box set.

2. Paint at least 8 of the already assembled highlanders, and ideally get these based and varnished.

3. Paint the 4 Models representing the Rifle Company.

4. Start organising the game/s between Christmas and New Year.

You can see how others are getting along in their blogs which you can find in the Blog section in the main menu.
